My Artwork was inspired by Adrian Saxe

Who is Adrian Saxe?

Adrian Saxe was born in 1943 and worked in Los Angeles as an artist for the past 50 years. He creates a variety of different works such as Gourds, Magic Lamps, Torso vessels, and Ampersands. His pieces have a modern look while also bringing some poetic style and humor. He received the Guggenheim Fellowship for Creative Arts award and many others for his work. His pieces have also been placed in many art museums.

How I was Inspired by Adrian Saxe

After researching multiple artists, I stumbled across Adrian Saxe's art and I was immediately drawn to it. I loved the way he used lines in his work to create movement in his pieces. His color choices were modern and simple. After looking at multiple pictures of his artwork I decided I wanted to create something similar to his but with my own sense of style. I kept my teapot simple in design but added contrast by incorporating lines in a different way. My lines were vines wrapped around the teapot giving an asymmetrical look. Adrian Saxe's lids are usually unique and I wanted to make mine different as well. I made a design that would fit nicely to a person's grip on the lid while matching the overall design. My handle was similar to some of his works. For glaze I used no more than two colors since Saxe only used few glazes. I wanted my teapot to be simple but with suddle hints of his features.
